Kyle Busch scored a big victory at Texas Motor Speedway for his first win of the 2018 season. He led 116 of the 334 laps of the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 to hold off a late charge from Kevin Harvick. Harvick who led 87 laps was plagued all day by mishaps on pit road. Busch captured the 44th NASCAR Cup win of his career giving haters another royal reason to keep on hating him.
Rookie of the Year contenders faired way better than many nameworthy veterans at Texas. William Byron scored his first top 10 finish as a Cup driver and Darrell Wallace Jr drove the iconic No. 43 to his second top 10 finish of the season. Jimmie Johnson, Denny Hamlin, and Brad Keselowski among others had their day cut short when they were involved in a 7-car wreck.
