While experiencing the thrill of watching race cars going around in circles on a track, NASCAR fans are constantly hit with the stark reality that racing is a dangerous sport. NASCAR Nation was reminded of this fact on Saturday at Kansas Speedway after a violent, fiery, three-car collision left Aric Almirola suffering from back injuries which will keep him off the track for an undetermined amount of time.
Martin Truex Jr. drove like a champion to take his second checkered flag of the season; a victory which left him feeling vindicated after a heartbreaking loss of last year’s race at Kansas. Joey Logano says a parts failure caused the crash that injured Aric Almirola and totaled his and Danica Patrick’s car. While Joey showed remorse, Danica said a bunch of words that made many people upset. Brad Keselowski shows resiliency with a runner-up finish, Trevor Bayne scores a hard-fought Top 10 finish, and Chase Elliott collides with Michael McDowell on pit road, but McDowell hits back with his best finish of the season.
