Talk Around The Track: Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Begins A New Chapter and More NASCAR Talk

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. began a new chapter of his racing career by taming the Monster at Talladega Superspeedway to capture his first ever Cup Series win. Talladega is arguably the most energizing and highly anticipated event on the NASCAR calendar, and there was enough drama on the track to satisfy the voracious appetite for excitement of the fans in the packed stands. Thanks to pack racing—a common phenomenon on restrictor plate tracks, a bump from AJ Allmendinger triggered the ‘Big One’ which eliminated a few of the ‘big guns’ from the competition and reducing their cars to mangled wrecks. And if that wild finish by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. wasn’t exciting enough, Ricky Stenhouse Sr. surely added some flavor; kicking the post-race celebration up a notch when he ended up in custody while attempting to use the shortest possible route to reach victory lane and celebrate with his son.

A loose wheel denied Dale Earnhardt Jr. a chance at the win, bold moves propelled Jamie McMurray to a runner-up finish, and grumpy Kyle Busch bad mouths the Talladega track after a sour defeat.
