Matt Kenseth confirmed that he is taking a break from Cup racing in 2018. The writing was on the wall for some time and most expected it, but it came as a surprise anyway. The future of NASCAR now rests mainly on the shoulders of the young drivers.
With one final spot left for the final Championship 4 at the upcoming battle royale at Homestead-Miami, the pressure is on and the stakes are high. This week, we ask fans to weigh in on what surprised them most about the Texas race, who will take the final spot for the Championship 4, and to share their thoughts on Matt Kenseth’s imminent departure.

Answers:
A1: Harvick closing in on Truex to steal the win! I guess they don’t call Kevin, Mr. Where Did He Come From for nothing lol.
— Alex (@AlexD77_) November 6, 2017
Larson getting so frustrated with being 10th he drove his car into the wall for a 3rd DNF. Or maybe JJ with his worst race I can recall
— Andrew (@abmccullough) November 6, 2017
A1: Kyle Larson crash. I felt like he was going to “spoil” the Playoff race, he had tons of speed in that car.
— Kenneth Lee (@FrontRowKenny) November 6, 2017
Someone actually passing Truex Jr for the lwad!
— loose lugnut (@Loose_lug_nut) November 6, 2017
A1: Jimmie Johnson’s struggles. He normally dominates this race, but he wasn’t even a factor. Don’t see him advancing to Homestead. #NASCAR

“Superman” Jimmie Johnson and the #48 being as “way out to lunch” as they were yesterday.

Question 2: There is only 1 spot left. Who you got? Who you picking to advance to the Championship 4 in the NASCAR Playoffs? #NASCARTalk

A2: I feel like Brad will advance into the Championship 4. I would love for one of the young guys (Blaney/Elliott) to make it.
— Kenneth Lee (@FrontRowKenny) November 6, 2017
Im hoping for Blaney.
— Harvick4TheCup30 (@ScottyStyles29) November 6, 2017
I’m hoping for #Blaney or Kes
— loose lugnut (@Loose_lug_nut) November 6, 2017
Only blaney I want but if Chase Elliott wins I’ll take that two

It’s not great for me in the UK, means I’ll be even more tired on a Monday morning haha!
— Jason Rodgers (@JRodgers_9) November 6, 2017
Hate those late start times. Go back to 12:00 or 1:00 starts
— Horace Poindexter 3 (@AndrewMarino711) November 6, 2017
I think the numbers will continue to drop because is clearly saying “to hell with what you actual fans want, we prefer the west coast”
— Ray Roberson (@sgt_stingray) November 6, 2017
Personally I’m not a fan of them. By the time the race is over, I feel like I have energy to do things but no time.
— Zane Taylor (@ZaneTaylor33) November 6, 2017
A3: I don’t have a problem with the later start times anymore. I’ve learned to deal with it. Excited for the future! #NASCAR

Question 4: Matt Kenseth! Matt Kenseth! Thoughts, opinions, what say you about what has happened to this veteran driver? #NASCARTalk

Not a fan so I'm happy. The fact that he couldn't get a spot in the 10 tells me he is a bad teammate with no sponsors. Enjoy the couch
— Wildkat Photography (@wildkatphoto) November 6, 2017
Had a great career. He came into the sport with Dale Jr and is leaving with him.
— Harvick4TheCup30 (@ScottyStyles29) November 6, 2017
A4: It's ridiculous that no top tier team has offered him a ride. This is a terrible way for Kenseth's career to end.
— Alex (@AlexD77_) November 6, 2017
A4: Not all surprising. He's still a good driver but $$$ he's looking for aren't there. The younger driver way is going to keep happening
— Kenneth Lee (@FrontRowKenny) November 6, 2017
#NASCARTalk Not surprised. Sponsors want young drivers.
— Frank Pozen (@frankp316) November 6, 2017
Question 5: Which young driver has the potential to have a better career in Cup? Why? #NASCARTalk
Q5: Which young driver has the potential to have a better career in Cup? Why? #NASCARTalk

Answers:
A5: I think Blaney could be a superstar down the road. As Michael Jordan said, “The ceiling is the roof!” #NASCAR
— Daily NASCAR Scoop (@NASCARDaily) November 6, 2017
A5: ↑obviously I’m bias & small sample size for other 3 listed but almost w/o fail Blaney improves each time he returns to a track. V smart.
— Blaniac10 (@Blaniac10) November 6, 2017
I’m going with #blaney. I think Bowman will prove worthy of his cup ride though and I have high hopes for Wallace in a better car in future
— loose lugnut (@Loose_lug_nut) November 7, 2017
I think Blaney will have the best career of the 4 but none of them will disappoint. All solid drivers.
— Zane Taylor (@ZaneTaylor33) November 6, 2017
#NASCARTalk It’s hard to tell because a lot depends on the equipment. Elliott, Blaney etc. seem even right now.
— Frank Pozen (@frankp316) November 6, 2017
maybe Blaney because he’s taken mid-pack equiptment like the Wood Brothers and made them contenders, his win at Pocono showed that. https://t.co/Up45VuT9mz
