With only five races remaining and the playoffs looming, a few familiar drivers have found themselves in the playoff bubble facing the big question: “Who will secure a place with a win?” Many believe Chase Elliott can do it, and expectations are high for this weekend’s race at Michigan.
The last 10 races have all been won by different drivers–4 of them repeat winners this season—so we think it’s perfectly normal to expect more drivers to break through the winless barrier in the upcoming races.
During this week’s Twitter Chat, fans shared their thoughts on Joe Gibbs suspending members of Martin Truex Jr.’s pit crew, next driver to get their first win of the season, and if Cup qualifying and Cup races should be held on the same day.
Below are links to our top 5 Twitter questions and also a few responses. Every Monday, we will host a #NASCARTalk Twitter party at 12:00 PM PST / 3:00 PM EST. Join us for some NASCAR talk. The incident wasn't that serious, 3 race suspension is stupid. Are we putting the kids in timeout?https://t.co/IiHWbSGvlo#NASCAR

Always remember who you are working for, and never use the phrase "i don't care who you are". It will always bite you in the end

I think the 18's crew chief should be suspended because he went to the 78 pit box which led to the argument with the tire changers🏁🏁🏁🏁
— Seth Blevins🏁 (@Gamer6238) July 31, 2017
I think it's quite weird since nobody was punished in the Vegas incident with the 18 crew. I guess Gibbs finally drew the line. https://t.co/lyfozK7N9W

No ulterior motive. Stevens is a superior to those guys. Would you ever yell at your boss and get away with it ? Yeah probably not.
— SHRFan4Life30 (@ScottyStyles29) July 31, 2017
I think it was a political move. It was Joe Gibbs putting Funiture racing in it's place and reminding them that they're the B team.
— Jonathan Thiebaud (@Jtbaud24) July 31, 2017
I think the philosophy is if you can't beat em, suspend em. Stevens shoulda taken the high road and kept walking. He's their superior
— loose lugnut (@Loose_lug_nut) July 31, 2017
I don't think there was an ulterior motive but it was a bad call. It was just an argument, shouldn't result in suspension.
— Andrew (@abmccullough) July 31, 2017
I think it was a business decision, never seen a person put hands on a mid level manager and not get fired. Can't see where it hurt the 78.
— Larry Lee (@lblee58) July 31, 2017
JGR doesnt own the 78 Nascar should either A) overturn it or B) admit the 4 team rule is being ignored.

Letarte/Earnhardt. I personally enjoy Letarte with the current crew. So I think having that combo next year will give NBC the nod
— Kenneth Lee (@FrontRowKenny) July 31, 2017
I'd say Fox. Usually a couple of races get good ratings even after the Daytona 500 whereas half of NBC races are during the football season.
— Kalle August (@FINdyCar) July 31, 2017
NBC. Reason is Dale Jr talking with Letarte and Burton and Rick Allen is better than listening to Waltrip Hendrick bias. #NASCARTalk
— SHRFan4Life30 (@ScottyStyles29) July 31, 2017
I'm leaning towards Letarte/Earnhardt. Like Jeff but don't care care for Watrip/Joy
— Larry Lee (@lblee58) July 31, 2017
Please, everyone knows how things gi when Jr's name comes up. Prefer NBC crew already as I don't think they are as political about opinions
— Michael Jay Husmann (@MoparMJ8) July 31, 2017
My guess is Fox, because the "Rick Allen Factor" is all kinds of "PRAWBLEMS" for NBC. https://t.co/S7l4f1XyVc
— Justin Bradley (@2JustinBradley) July 31, 2017
@NASCARonNBC #DaleandDale show with @RickAllenracing calling the race , keep Letarte and Burton on the side like for #Overtons400 https://t.co/DGlLe55R22

Really doesn't matter from fan perspective but I'm all for giving the teams another off day.
— Anthony Ortiz (@realaortiz08) July 31, 2017
Don't prefer it as a fan watching from home, but I support making weekends easier on the teams. #WorkLifeBalance

Really don't care either way now the race start is so late in the afternoon
— Larry Lee (@lblee58) July 31, 2017
For drivers, crew members, journalists, broadcasters, it's great! An extra day to stay at home.https://t.co/7c1X5M3TYE#NASCAR

Based on recent form I'm going to say Bowyer. Elliott has the speed to win almost anywhere but they're not executing very well lately…
— Jason Rodgers (@JRodgersSport) July 31, 2017
Nope!!! @DaleJr has got this one, he will end his career with a road course win
— Mike Shepardson (@ShepardsonMike) July 31, 2017
Elliott has Michigan coming up….. I'd keep an eye on that race. #NASCAR
— Daily NASCAR Scoop (@NASCARDaily) July 31, 2017
I'm leaning towards Kenseth or Bowyer. Both running good and very hungry as of late
— Larry Lee (@lblee58) July 31, 2017
Logano. Racing well lately. Would like to see Elliott get that first win too. Maybe Michigan for Elliott and Richmond for Logano
— Steve Gocke (@Steve_gocke) August 1, 2017
I sure am 💙✌4ever. @chaseelliott 2nd @MISpeedway last 3 races-his turn!! Also P4 & P7 @BMS so don't be counting my GA boy out. @NAPARacing
