NASCAR fans always love or hate something and 1.5-mile tracks are no exception. During our latest #NASCARTalk, we asked the question, “Are there too many 1.5-mile races on the schedule?” Of course, this ended up being a hot topic with fans along with other questions like whether or not Kevin Harvick was too outspoken and which young driver was primed to win a race first.

Question 1: @sandrajbarnes said, “Am I the only person who thinks that reducing the amount of crew members over the wall is becoming a safety issue for the drivers?” What do you think? Is she on to something? Thoughts? #NASCARTalk

A1: IMO I don’t see it as a safety issue. More of a challenge for teams yes. 40 less people on pit road may increase safety.
— Mick Rose 🇺🇸 (@GoDucks42_mick) April 9, 2018
A1: It's definitely made pitstops a lot more of a challenge as far as a safety issue even before pit crew member limits, it's always been dangerious for crew guys and gals even before the speed limit.
— Patrick R. Dron, Martin and Ryan Truex fan (@patrickdron78) April 9, 2018
A1: I actually it will make things safer as the gasman has one task and there's less people to potentially get hurt. As the season goes along the teams will get better and times will come down
— Larry Lee (@lblee58) April 9, 2018
A1: I don't see a safety issue with having less crew members over the wall. I think all of the mistakes and mishaps are based on teams learning how to do pit stops again with the new rules.
— Kenneth W Lee Jr. (@FrontRowKenny) April 9, 2018
A1: I think the loose lugs have more to do with the new guns than one less person over the wall. I think that less people over the wall actually improves safety.
— Michelle Cison (@chellebean316) April 9, 2018
Question 2: Kevin Harvick says new pit guns ‘pathetic’ and ’embarrassing for the sport.’ Do you think he is too outspoken? Do you wish more drivers were as vocal? Love it? Hate it? Thoughts? #NASCARTalk

The great thing about #NASCAR that they have so much media exposure and fans want to hear what they are thinking! All drivers have the right, ability, and opportunity to speak their minds, but when it comes from the mouths of veterans I believe it has more weight to it.
— G~Rated 🙈🙉🙊 (@G_Na14) April 9, 2018
A2: Not at all! Drivers have the right to speak their minds even if it's constructive criticism. At an early age, I learned that you have to be able to take critics because nothing in life can be perfect. Best way to improve is to evaluate. #NASCAR

Total respect to him for speaking up.
— Sandra J Barnes (@sandrajbarnes) April 9, 2018
A1 I think Denny Hamlin will notch a win in the next week or two. He's had some success at Bristol, and it looks like the JGR/FRR alliance are starting to get things dialed in this year. #NASCARTalk
— Donnie S. (@TheDingoDude) April 9, 2018
The drivers know better than anyone. If there is a need to complain, I say go it.

Question 3: Who do you think will be the next veteran driver to win? Why? #NASCARTalk

I don't disagree Denny would be a logical choice to win Richmond I just don't like him hence the thumbs down. It's a legit pick. Honestly the 18 could easily win Bristol/Richmond though the way he's running.
— Brad 🇺🇸 #Di9 (@BeachandBHawks) April 9, 2018
Kyle Busch cause its Bristol baby!!!!
— Tron Tomlin (@TronTomlin) April 9, 2018
A3: what are we calling a veteran? But I would say Larson at Bristol he is really good there just doesn’t always get the results.
— Mick Rose 🇺🇸 (@GoDucks42_mick) April 9, 2018
A3: next veteran driver to win? maybe Paul Menard because he's showing for the first time in a while that if the car is right he's as good as anybody out there in good equipment.
— Patrick R. Dron, Martin and Ryan Truex fan (@patrickdron78) April 9, 2018
A3: Denny Hamlin
— Larry Lee (@lblee58) April 9, 2018
Question 4: Who’s next to win out of the young guys? Pick one and let us know why. Blaney, Wallace, Byron, Jones, Suarez, or Elliott? #NASCARTalk

— All Turns No Brakes (@turnsnobrakes) April 9, 2018
@Blaney is always fast and he lead the most laps 🏁
— Emily Hurst (@MegaBlaneyfan) April 9, 2018
A4: Tough question but I believe Blaney is the closest young driver to getting a win before everyone else listed here. #NASCARTalk
— Alex 🏁🏎 (@AlexD77_) April 9, 2018
A4 @Daniel_SuarezG! I hope his hand injury doesn't set him back. He's a good driver in great equipment. He's had an awful run of bad luck lately. The universe owes him one. I think Jones and Blaney are also in good spots for a win. #NASCARTalk
— Donnie S. (@TheDingoDude) April 9, 2018
@Blaney has led more laps then all of them combined.
— S Hurst (@steve2bcool) April 9, 2018
This is a tough choice between Jones and Blaney. They're in great form right now. Jones should be someone to watch this weekend.

Jimmie Johnson is so overdue. He has had the worst string of luck and needs to find that golden horseshoe that he always seems to find when the chips are down. Let's hope Bristol is his ticket to the finals. #NASCAR #ItsBristolBaby #chasing8

A5 2018 Schedule
1.5 mile races 11
Tracks 1 mile or less 11
Tracks 2 miles or greater 10
Road course 3
Darlington 1Pretty balanced to me I have no issue with any of them Track is same for everyone line them up and race.
— Mick Rose 🇺🇸 (@GoDucks42_mick) April 9, 2018
A5: Don't care for so many 1.5 miles races during the year. Need more short tracks and road courses.
— Larry Lee (@lblee58) April 9, 2018
A5: Way too many 1.5-mile tracks. Hopefully 2021 brings more short tracks and road courses. #NASCAR
— Kobe Lambeth (@KobeLambeth) April 9, 2018
I personally think there should be as many 1.5 mile tracks. Fans want to see more side by side, and drivers leaning on one another. The question is if teams had an option of another tire manufacturer would that help or hurt racing.
