The highly anticipated Daytona 500 just days away and NASCAR Nation is salivating for their first real taste of some adrenaline-pumping restrictor plate action on the unpredictable tri-oval track. With an interesting mix of veteran drivers and young guns eager to prove themselves in the NASCAR talent pool, it will be fascinating to see how it all unfolds.
We asked fans, “Was the offseason too long? Which car and driver will dominate this season? Will the young guns show up and show out?” and, of course, fans shared who they’re rooting for to win the Great American race.

Question 1: Was the @NASCAR off-season too long or should it be shorter. Why? #NASCARTalk
Q1: Was the @NASCAR off-season too long or should it be shorter. Why? #NASCARTalk

Answers:
A1: Nope. I don’t really have a problem with the length of the off-season. I followed sports car racing over the Winter, so I had no reason to miss racing since I was following another discipline. #NASCAR
— Kobe Lambeth (@NASCARDaily) February 12, 2018
A 1: as far as a fan it’s too long. However, for the driver’s and crew it’s too short. I think I understand what Denny Hamlin is talking about at the end of each season.

They cannot expect to excite or keep a loyal fan base when they end in November and start from scratch in February. Need January testing and fan haulers back make it about the fans not Corporation $$$
— Dave Nichols (@xxdalejrxx88) February 12, 2018
A1: Since it doesn’t have the free agency period like other sports to keep people engaged, the length of its off-season is probably the best length for the series.
— Renee (@rb218) February 12, 2018
A1: It’s a incredibly short off-season, I personally think it’s fine as is. There’s still plenty of racing going on even after the NASCAR off-season.

Question 2: Who will bring it this season? Who do you expect to dominate (4+ wins) this year? Truex Jr., Keselowski. Kyle Busch, Johnson, Larson, Logano… Who is going to show up and show out? #NASCARTalk

Answers:
A2: I think Kyle Busch, Johnson and Harvick will win 4+ this season!
— Jason (@JRodgers_9) February 12, 2018
With the way @MartinTruex_Jr dominated last year I’m going with him until proven otherwise
— ryan goodrum (@ryan_goodrum) February 12, 2018
I think we’ll see several people win multiple races, but I’m not sure anyone will dominate. I do think several drivers get their first win this year (Elliot, Bowman). I also think that @Blaney will win 2 or 3 races this year.
— Michelle Cison (@chellebean316) February 12, 2018
A2: Hendrick Motorsports in general are going to step up from last year. I expect a battle between Hendricks and Gibbs for the championship. Also expect 4 + wins from Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, and Martin Truex Jr.
— #NASCARLovingHiveling (@TheRobster2014) February 12, 2018
A2. Chase is about to explode this year
— Ray Roberson (@sgt_stingray) February 12, 2018
A2 I think this season will be different the wins will be spread out lots of 1 win driver’s and 2 win driver’s but very few 3 or 4+ winners. I want the Young guns to lead but will see . Chase Elliott being called a young gun is fine I still class Larson as one.
— Benjamin Paulson (@BenjaminPaulso8) February 12, 2018
Question 3: Will this NASCAR season be the year of the veterans or will the young guys (Bowman, Williams, Elliott, Wallace Jr., Blaney, etc) show out? Why? #NASCARTalk

Answers:
Don’t be surprised if @AlexBowman88 has a big year. He’s competed full time in Cup with a smaller team, and he’s put in the time at Hendrick. It’s time for him to cash in and that team is more than capable.
— Michelle Cison (@chellebean316) February 12, 2018
I feel like the young drivers are really gonna show up this yr. I think they feel they have alot to prove after things said in the off season.
— Jonathan Thiebaud (@Jtbaud249) February 12, 2018
A3: I think this is going to be the season of the young guys! There’s so much talent that just entered the cup series and I see a lot of success coming from them! But the veterans are veterans for a reason and I think they will give the young guys a run for their money!
— Tiffany (@tiffanyshandell) February 12, 2018
A3: Veterans. I think other than a few young guys. Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney, and Kyle Larson. The only others that showed a lot of talent haven’t competed full time in cup. So it’s unknown how they’ll do at this point.
— #NASCARLovingHiveling (@TheRobster2014) February 12, 2018
A3: I think it could be a combo of both.
— Patrick R. Dron, Martin and Ryan Truex fan (@patrickdron78) February 12, 2018
A3: I think it’ll be a mix. We still have veterans like Johnson, Harvick, Busch, Keselowski, and Truex who can still get the job done. I expect the young guns to challenge for wins throughout the season. #NASCAR
— Kobe Lambeth (@NASCARDaily) February 12, 2018
Question 4: @TheRobster2014 wants to know your opinion on the “Roval” now that the layout is confirmed. What do you think? Will it be a good look for NASCAR? Are you excited about it or nay? #NASCARTalk

#NASCARTalk I will reserve judgement until we see the race.

Looking fwd to it, road courses bring lots of excitement and it’s a great place to seek some paybacks
— ryan goodrum (@ryan_goodrum) February 12, 2018
A4: It’s not your typical road course but I’m blessed that NASCAR tried something new. The roval has a few technical corners in the infield, oval sections, and a pair of chicanes. I’m VERY excited for this event. Should be a memorable race. I’m going to the roval race. #NASCAR
— Kobe Lambeth (@NASCARDaily) February 12, 2018
A4. Road courses belong to open wheel cars. Need to replace them with 2 short tracks and a dirt track
— Ray Roberson (@sgt_stingray) February 12, 2018
I think that it will be cool. I like watchin those bad boys gettin those cars off the ground in a corner.
— Brian Thompson (@btracefan_Rcf) February 12, 2018
I’m a little nervous, but overall excited to see how it goes! New things in this sport seem to do both well and not so well so it may be a surprise.
— kym (@knalllen) February 12, 2018
Question 5: Any thoughts on @TeamChevy’s Camaro ZL1 or @ToyotaRacing’s Camry. What about @FordPerformance’s Fusion? Which car will dominate this season? Why? #NASCARTalk

— All Turns No Brakes (@turnsnobrakes) February 12, 2018
Answers:
I suspect the Camaro will take a few races to work out some kinks in performance and be competitive. I’m thinking Toyota will be strong as last year w/ Ford at the disadvantage until they get a new body. They’ve all been in the wind tunnel to much.
— Greg Clark (@gclarktweets2) February 12, 2018
A5: I’ll have watch a few races with the Chevy. They do look fast. Other than that I think it will be the same as the past couple years. Toyota dominate, Chevy being right behind and Ford struggle.
— Kayla Kaye 🏁 (@bookk14g) February 12, 2018
I think it’s gonna be a fight between the Chevys and Toyota’s. I think the Ford’s maybe at alittle bit of a disadvantage this yr because it’s an older body style.
— Jonathan Thiebaud (@Jtbaud249) February 12, 2018
Toyota will start strong but watch out for the Chevys getting it together by Playoff time! Ford you’d think will suffer from the need for a new body like Chevy did last year
— Jason (@JRodgers_9) February 12, 2018
A5. I think it shows the joke that has become NASCAR. A Camry and a Camaro are not the same style car is like a late model vs a mini stock.
— Ray Roberson (@sgt_stingray) February 12, 2018
Question 6: It’s hard to predict the winner of any race especially restrictor plate racing, but we have to ask. Who will win the #Daytona500? #NASCARTalk

Answers:
Since it is unpredictable and so random I’ll just base this on current trends and say it will be any driver from Penske or SHR.
— The Florida Cracker (@FlaCrackerBoy) February 12, 2018
A6: Either Brad Keslowski or Ricky Stenhouse Jr. They have been showing that they can race restrictor plates.
— Kayla Kaye 🏁 (@bookk14g) February 12, 2018
Q6 My 💰 is on @KyleLarsonRacin , just saying😉
— Mack n Holly (@88machinehead) February 12, 2018
I pick Elliot or Bowman… leaning Elliot
