We turned to some of the most loyal NASCAR fans we know to take part in this weeks #NASCARTalk. Let’s just say, “It was an All-Star Fan twitter chat.” Fans weighed in and not only answered questions, but they provided the questions for our weekly chat. We discussed whether fans were happy with the quality of racing at this year’s All-Star Race. Another hot topic included how much of the positive reaction to the All-Star Race was due to how poor the previous four events were. Of course, there was much debate about whether the All-Star package was gimmicky and if fans are in favor of using restrictor plates at other 1.5-mile tracks.

A1: I was very happy with the way the All-Star race went. It was something different and put on quite the show! I hope this is something they can build upon their next package.

A1: I thought it was pretty exciting but different. A lot of people didn't like it because the speeds were much slower. I'm perfectly fine with 170 mph speeds if it produces better racing. I would love to see how this package works at Indy, Michigan, or Pocono. #NASCAR

Yes, I was happy with it because I considered this package to be competitive. It also gave some underfunded teams a chance to shine (look at the open results)

The racing was good. But if you advertise that you have the 40 best stock car drivers in the world. Will a car that can go 190 at Charlotte with low Downforce showcase that talent with a highdownforce Car that can be driven wide open? ♂️

I don't want a show, I want good, hard, door banging racing at various kinds of tracks. Nascar needs to lose some of the LAME 1.5 mile tracks!

I mean, nothing really worked prior to Saturday to make the mile and half's interesting. But, that was good to watch. However, it takes more than one race to determine judgement.

A3 Maybe they should move.the race around. Charlotte Motor Speedway is one of the most boring tracks on the circuit. 1 car was so much faster that in 2 laps no one was even close? Seems legit.

I am w/Brent on this. 1-can't lie it was more exciting. Was it the most exciting 1.5 race? not to me, I have for sure seen better but it's been a long time. 2-that race was not typical in form, will it look the same or 400 laps? 3-it felt gimmicky to me and still didn't enjoy it

A4: It has some effect but the overall product on the intermediate tracks haven't always been the best. I enjoyed the All-Star race. The racing was fun. Another option is producing a much different car when we get to Gen 7. #NASCAR

A4: compared to the 4 points paying races, there was actual battles through the field and even for the lead at times during the all star races not just one driving getting out front, and using that clean air to his advantage.

A5: I think those places are suited it for this package. I think out of those tracks, the ones that need it the most are Indy & Pocono.

I don’t know ♂️ a couple of years ago the low Downforce at Kentucky looked like the way to go. Then you let the teams work on the cars and the teams find away to get better and eventually stinking up the show.

A6: I hate to be "that" guy but regardless of what changes nascar makes to the body, these teams will science the shit out of it in a short amount of time. I dont want to see this series go "iroc" but with the tight box these guys are already in we're moving in that direction.

A6: No, I say increase horsepower and decrease sideforce and Downforce. And put more control in the drivers hand and throttle control.
