Are competition cautions necessary? Will Clint Bowyer get another win this season? Why does Mark Martin believe Daytona and Talladega style racing is not the way to go? Those were only a few of the topics discussed this week during our weekly Twitter chat. We posed the questions and let NASCAR Twitter sound off. Of course, fans had a lot to share.

A1 I feel like competition cautions are a necessary evil when changing track conditions dictate. Do I like them? That's a different question entirely. #NASCARTalk
— Donnie S. (@TheDingoDude) June 11, 2018
A1 No! IMO When teams show up for first practice they can get all the information they need to know from a track with no rubber down.
— Mick Rose (@GoDucks42_mick) June 11, 2018
A1: Running on a green track can cause excessive tire wear depending on the track. Better to have a competition caution than a tire failure that takes out half the field
— Larry Lee (@lblee58) June 11, 2018
A1: I don't really mind the competition caution. It's been around for a long time. IMO, it's just a part of NASCAR. #NASCAR
— Kobe Lambeth (@KobeLambeth) June 11, 2018
A: I think it's just a NASCAR thing and I don't question it, if you start to do that, you'll get frustrated.
— Patrick R. Dron, Martin and Ryan Truex fan (@patrickdron78) June 11, 2018
Question 2: The end of Stage 1 at Michigan was “interesting.” Do you agree with @NickBromberg thoughts that NASCAR’s desire for entertainment came at the expense of integrity? Was it fair to Matt Kenseth? Thoughts? #NASCARTalk

Yes, if Nascar is about entertainment…why are we watching??? It isn't entertaining. I thought it was about racing….but, it has turned into a clown show. Disgusting!!!!
— MO_Outlaw41 (@MO_Outlaw41) June 11, 2018
A2: Tbh we've seen stages end with a one-lap shootout before and nobody complained about it ♂️. Yes, it's entertaining for the fans. I was nervous when Kenseth merged back onto the track. Thought he was going to crash into the cars already at full speed . #NASCAR
— Kobe Lambeth (@KobeLambeth) June 11, 2018
A2: I think about how that stage ended it was I think a combo of both and that certain was hmm "dicey" at best.
— Patrick R. Dron, Martin and Ryan Truex fan (@patrickdron78) June 11, 2018
A2: I like that they finished it under green. Probably wasn’t the way it should of ended and hurt a few team.
— Mick Rose (@GoDucks42_mick) June 11, 2018
A2: I agree with @NickBromberg
— Larry Lee (@lblee58) June 11, 2018
Question 3: @overthewallrace asks, “Clint Bowyer currently leads Martin Truex Jr. in the standings. At this time, who has the most potential to be the points leader among the two by the time the championship begins?” #NASCARTalk

Got to go with the 78. Just feel like he has been really consistent for 4 years now.
— ryan goodrum (@ryan_goodrum) June 12, 2018
A3: While SHR is on a roll as a collective I don’t think I would say Bowyer will have more points this year. While Bowyer is doing well Truex should still be ahead of him come season end.
— Kenneth W Lee Jr. (@FrontRowKenny) June 12, 2018
A3. That is all. #NASCARTalk pic.twitter.com/LoO1afkgxb
— Graydon Bunn (@SmoothOper88or) June 11, 2018
Part One- My angle being, 1 Ford has/is throwing considerable effort behind SHR as a whole this year and is seeing results all 4 are doing well. FRR, is completely strong and not written off by a long shot. FRE eludes to the strength of relationship between TRD and themselves
— Cliff (@overthewallrace) June 11, 2018
A3 Gotta go Truex. In the end, his performance is the most consistent. I wouldn't rule one more Bowyer trip to victory lane, but I feel like Truex will end up there two or three more times before 2018 is in the books. #NASCARTalk

Question 4: Speaking as a fan, Mark Martin had a lot to say about NASCAR. He said, “I just don’t think making these races more Daytona- and Talladega-style is the way to go. I don’t have a lot of interest in watching that.” Agree? Disagree? #NASCARTalk

Answers:
A4: I agree, make them more Bristol and Richmond. Rubbins racing, checkers or wreckers, and if you get punched out for driving stupid well you deserved it (or get bigger crew members).
— Charlie Bowles (@CharlieBowles6) June 11, 2018
A4: I agree. We only have four, true plate races a year in Cup. It's unique because it's not something you see each week. If most of the races used restrictor plates, then it becomes watered down. Would Eldora weekend be special if NASCAR ran a bunch of dirt tracks? #NASCAR
— Kobe Lambeth (@KobeLambeth) June 11, 2018
A4: I agree 100% and hope NASCAR moves on from this experiment.
— Mick Rose (@GoDucks42_mick) June 11, 2018
Agree
— MO_Outlaw41 (@MO_Outlaw41) June 11, 2018
A4: yeah making races Daytona or Talladega style with plates and pack racing even not on those two tracks, it could be tough to watch and follow but something has to be done to make mile and a half races, interesting with the current aero package.
— Patrick R. Dron, Martin and Ryan Truex fan (@patrickdron78) June 11, 2018

You have to think he's a contender at Martinsville in the fall, which is huge because assuming he's still in the playoffs, a win gets him to the F4.
— Jeff Woods (@SportsGuy_Jeff) June 11, 2018
I agree think Martinsville, and the Roval at Charlotte could be his path to 4 wins. He’s usually strong at road course.
— Raceday Wrap-Up (@Raceday_WrapUp) June 11, 2018
If we have another off week @ClintBowyer will win his 3rd race this season
— Tron Tomlin (@TronTomlin) June 11, 2018
With this aero package, anything is possible. 2 tires won him the race Sunday. Who's to say that couldn't happen again? But straight up, ehhh, I don't think he's faster than Kevin, or the Kyles most weeks.
— NASCAR Nerd (@_NASCARNerd) June 11, 2018
A5: Maybe a 3rd but not a 4th win
— Larry Lee (@lblee58) June 11, 2018
Question 6: Clint Bowyer won a weather-shortened Cup race at Michigan. Austin Dillon won the weather-shortened Xfinity race. Fans seemed happy for Bowyer. Some fans talked crap and called Dillon lucky. Is it unfair? Thoughts? #NASCARTalk

It was 100% fair but also lucky as Harvick was coming. Right place, right time, good job Mr. Bowyer.
— Jason Lyle ⚾ (@GoHarvickGo) June 11, 2018
A6: I wouldn’t say it’s fair or unfair! IMOg fans have there favorites and there villains and no matter what they aren’t going to give there villains any credit.
— Mick Rose (@GoDucks42_mick) June 11, 2018
In those two series right now, equipment wins championships. Dillon's "crown jewel" wins? Fuel mileage and a plate race where he dumped the leader on the last lap. When he wins a Cup race on speed (Or even comes close to winning speed on a non-plate track) he'll get more respect.
— NASCAR Nerd (@_NASCARNerd) June 11, 2018
A6: win's a win regardless of how you get in the front gamble or not. people can say what they want.
— Patrick R. Dron, Martin and Ryan Truex fan (@patrickdron78) June 11, 2018
For the most part, I think he's universally liked. There may be some holdovers from the Richmond incident, but ultimately he's a likable guy and easy to pull for.
