Kevin Harvick did not go 4 for 4 winning his fourth consecutive race in a row this season. Instead, Martin Truex Jr. stepped in for the win. With Truex Jr. returning back to his winning ways, we had to ask Twitterville if they believed Harvick or Truex Jr. was favorited to win this year’s championship.
Are fans to critical of everything Kyle Busch says? Busch was the talk of Twitter — at least for NASCAR fans — after the Auto Club 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA. Since some fans felt the need to tell Busch how they felt, we decided to ask our own questions — especially after Busch let a few fans have it. We discussed their thoughts on Busch, NASCAR possibly changing venues in 2021, failed pre-race inspections, and more during our latest Twitter chat.

Question 1: @KyleBusch had a vicious exchange with fans on Twitter last night. He was also booed at the track yesterday. Does Kyle deserve all the backlash all the time? Thoughts? #NASCARTalk

Answers:
A1: No he doesn't. He is the easiest target for criticism simply because he's Kyle Busch. I think NASCAR should sit down with the drivers and discuss a new media policy to avoid confusion. Anyways, Twitter was 🔥 last night! #NASCAR
— Kobe Lambeth (@NASCARDaily) March 19, 2018
A1: Kyle brings some of it on, but “all” probably not warranted. I thought his twitter exchange was hilarious. He’s smart, and many of his public detractors are not. Remember, Big E was booed as much as he was cheered. Jeff G the same during part of his career.
— PETM Racing Podcast (@PETMpodcast) March 19, 2018
A1: No. He doesn't deserve a lot the vitriol thrown at him. Many of the tweets directed at him last night were deleted late last night or today. However, I have seen him make a fool of himself a few times.
— Greg Clark (@gclarktweets2) March 19, 2018
A1: not really people may not like him because he wins in Xfinity and Trucks and seems like he's petulant if he doesn't win, but he's human like we all are.
— Patrick R. Dron, Martin and Ryan Truex fan (@patrickdron78) March 19, 2018
A1: This goes for any real life situation. People gotta get their facts straight before going off. Kyle hasn't necessarily done much to help himself at times, but I put myself in his shoes. I know myself, and sometimes I would be exactly like him. FOX 💩 the bed on this 1.

A1: No he doesn't. It's funny that fans complain about drivers not showing emotion but when Kyle does it, they still complain simply because he's Kyle Busch. #NASCARTalk

Question 2: Should NASCAR go back to independent dates and tracks for the Xfinity and Truck Series? Is it too late? Does it make sense economically? Will fans support the races? Thoughts? #NASCARTalk

Answers:
A2: Absolutely need more standalone events. The places like Hickory, South Boston, Nashville Fairgrounds the Bullring at Las Vegas etc. Those places have put on shows. I'm sure that'll bring people out to the "local"venues.
— Kenneth W Lee Jr. (@FrontRowKenny) March 19, 2018
A2: There’s something very nostalgic about going to some of these old tracks. Pick out 3 tracks, and rotate them every year just to see if fans are really interested
— ryan goodrum (@ryan_goodrum) March 19, 2018
A 2. I defienetly think for the trucks they should go back to mote independent dates and go back to short tracks. The same with Xfinity series. It showcases the talent of both series because less cup drivers are there.
— Jonathan Thiebaud (@Jtbaud249) March 19, 2018
A2: Yes, both @NASCAR_Xfinity and @NASCAR_Trucks need to run stand alone races at short tracks. They have a better chance of attracting new fans. Something @Nascar will need to survive.
— Larry Lee (@lblee58) March 19, 2018
Fans don't even follow the Xfinity series without cup drivers in the races. Everyone said they wanted that and Nascar did something about it. Yet look at the stands on Saturday's.
— Bill Steinbach III (@bill_steinie3) March 20, 2018
A2 If wishes were fishes… The reality of the situation is the lower tier national series can't survive without weekender attendance brought by Cup series events. A couple more beyond Iowa and Road America would be nice, though! #NASCARTalk

Question 3: Question and a poll. Martin Truex Jr. returned to his winning ways. Do you see him dominating like he did last season and like Harvick has done so far? Thoughts? Who will the championship this season? #NASCARTalk

A3: I can see it going in any of those directions! Harvick has shown how strong he is already this season and MTJ we already know how good he is but I can also see another driver break out and become dominant whether it be a veteran or young gun! So many different possibilities!
— Tiffany (@tiffanyshandell) March 19, 2018
i think truex will be stronger as the season goes on. the toyota’s always seem to dominate later in the year too. I do believe they won’t be as dominant this year as last year though
— Rowdy Ocho #18n18 (@OchoRowdy) March 19, 2018
I don't think he'll be as dominant. Everyone saw what he could do last year and they've had the whole offseason to study and try to catch up.
— Zane Taylor (@ZaneTaylor33) March 19, 2018
I think Harvick remains at least the early favorite. Wait until he finishes poorly on a race that he isn’t wrecked out of before writing him off.
— Seth Roy (@SethJosephRoy) March 20, 2018
I think 4 & 78 are setting up for a season-long battle. But we are only 5 races in. I'm sure we'll see another contender emerge yet. Any of the Penske boys. JGR. Lar-SON! I'm sure HMS will get rolling here eventually. I'd like to see our (Ontario, Canada's) Cole Pearn go for 2 🏆

Kyle Busch #18 toyota of course!!

Question 4: @jeff_gluck wrote a great article about NASCAR’s widespread inspection failures (http://jeffgluck.com/widespread-inspection-failures-not-nascars-fault/ …). Do you think it’s time for an overhaul of the way NASCAR does inspections? Are there too many? Thoughts? #NASCARTalk

— All Turns No Brakes (@turnsnobrakes) March 19, 2018
Answers:
A4: I don't think there should be a change, NASCAR does inspections the best they can to make sure teams are legal even if they try and push the limits which they tend to do to get an advantage.
— Patrick R. Dron, Martin and Ryan Truex fan (@patrickdron78) March 19, 2018
#NASCARTalk Well, we'll see what happens at Texas because that's the next track where aero is an issue. Martinsville is irrelevant in this discussion.
— Frank Pozen (@frankp316) March 19, 2018
A4: It honestly doesn’t bother me! I think the teams are pushing their limits which can be good and can be bad! Sometimes they can have good results with the limits they push or they can fail and not qualify! I agree with Jeff’s article and how he put it!
— Tiffany (@tiffanyshandell) March 19, 2018
A4: Not really. Maybe fine tune it a bit. Bring a car that can pass inspection, or fix it after the first failure.
— Greg Clark (@gclarktweets2) March 19, 2018
I don’t care what inspection process they do, just don’t change it in the middle of a race weekend
— ryan goodrum (@ryan_goodrum) March 19, 2018
Question 5: According to @A_S12, “NASCAR is locked into using same venues for Cup through ’20, sources say that leaders of the sport have privately begun discussing possible changes to the schedule in ’21.” What track would you like to see added? #NASCARTalk

A5: I'd like to see Mosport, Road America, COTA, and Iowa join the Cup schedule. I hope it won't be too many road courses but it's my favorite type of racing. #NASCAR
— Kobe Lambeth (@NASCARDaily) March 20, 2018
#NASCARTalk This comes up today because one of the owners of Mosport says he wants a cup race. As a Canadian, I would love to see it but it's not happening. And Mosport is the only track in Canada that could support a cup race. Others would need major upgrades.
— Frank Pozen (@frankp316) March 20, 2018
A5 I would love to see @iowaspeedway and @roadamerica added. I would like to see a race at COTA, and a race in Montreal as well.
— Jonathan Thiebaud (@Jtbaud249) March 20, 2018
remove kansas imo. we have enough of the same track i.e vegas ky chicagoland michigan. Iowa is a must IMO and i would love to see nashville again. that track was awesome! Also texas roval would be a neat thing
— Rowdy Ocho #18n18 (@OchoRowdy) March 20, 2018
A5: Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and Road America for me. I think those would be good fits.
